Mom, Xray/Lab Technologist, CPR Instructor:
West Philadelphia, born and raised. Space invaders and PACMAN was how I spent my days. From corner stores, elementary through college, I felt safe. Back then 2020 was so far away it was a TV show that I'd hope to be on someday. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur but I lacked startup capital or even minimal wealth. I've spent my career in Allied Health. However, as much as I love caring for others, I fell short in caring for myself. October 2016, I was diagnosed with blood clots that had occluded my entire right leg aka Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT). All was fine until my birthday, October 12th, 2016. When clots travelled to my lungs causing DVT/PE (Pulmonary Embolism) with subsequent TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) with acute mental and physical impairments that have all subsided. PRAISE GOD!
Simultaneously, our communities are under attack: mentally and physically. Children are dying in schools from undiagnosed medial conditions, physical and gun violence. Parents fear burying their children as others are actively planning their child's final service. Death is ageless, has no regard for sentiment or intentions. Yet, death is the only guarantee that we have as human beings! I know because I failed to have this conversation with my daughter until in the ER when I was able to immediately hear my child crying and screaming as she arrived and saw me unable to open my eyes or speak fluently.
I believe my life was spared on my birthday to deliver a new lifesaving training platform that would engage disengaged communities, allow practical skills development at affordable rates with prizes and incentives. More importantly, I want to empower individuals and families to begin discussing "End of Life" values and beliefs before death arrives. I'm so grateful to witness my daughter's growth and independence now that she understands the fact that Mommy & Daddy will not always be here.
COVID-19 Coronavirus confirms the need to explore lifesaving skills for all. I continue to pray for our communities and I hope you accept HOCMAN as the service product you choose to introduce and share your knowledge, skills and beliefs with your family and friends.
Thank you!
Stay safe and LOVE LOVE
